Private Label Skincare Samples in 5 Fast Steps: Dispatched in 3–5 Days, Delivered Worldwide in 7–10
67% of buyers who receive Flavor Sources samples place a production order within 90 days. The fastest way to evaluate our quality — and your brand’s future — starts here.
Why Samples Matter
Why Private Label Skincare Sample Requests Are Your Best Risk Elimination Tool — Not Just a Nice-to-Have
At Flavor Sources, we make this point to every prospective client: ordering samples is not a formality or a delay — it is the fastest path to a successful launch. The data is clear. Buyers who skip the sample stage to “save time” experience a failure rate 3× higher than those who evaluate properly.
A sample tells you in 7–10 days what no product description, no specification sheet, and no manufacturer claim can tell you: exactly how the product performs in your hands, on your skin, and in your target customer’s experience. At Flavor Sources, our 67% sample-to-production-order rate reflects the confidence our samples generate — because the quality speaks for itself.

The Sample Request Process
The 5-Step Private Label Skincare Sample Request Process at Flavor Sources
Every sample request follows this structured process — designed to get the right products in your hands as quickly as possible, with no confusion about what comes next.
Submit Your Sample Brief
Complete our sample request form (linked at the bottom of this page). Your brief should include: product categories of interest (serum, moisturizer, cleanser, body lotion, eye cream, etc.), key ingredient preferences or claims, your target market and any regulatory requirements, your intended retail price point, and the sales channel you’re targeting (DTC, retail, spa, Amazon).
The more specific your brief, the more targeted our product recommendations. Vague requests (“something good for skincare”) result in generic recommendations. Specific briefs (“a barrier repair moisturizer with ceramides, fragrance-free, suitable for EU market, targeting £30–£45 retail price”) get you the 3–5 most relevant products from our 400+ formula catalog.
Receive Personalized Catalog Recommendations Within 4 Business Hours
Your assigned Flavor Sources account manager reviews your brief and sends back personalized product recommendations within 4 business hours. Each recommendation includes: the product name and catalog code, complete INCI ingredient list, key claims and active ingredient concentrations, available packaging formats, indicative pricing at different MOQ tiers, and a stability data summary.
You select up to 5 SKUs for your sample order. If none of the recommendations are exactly right, your account manager can suggest modifications or custom formulation options at this stage. For custom formulation samples, see the timeline note in Step 4 below.
Pay Sample Fee and Confirm Shipping Details
Once you’ve confirmed your SKU selections, your account manager issues a sample pro-forma invoice. Sample fees cover the formulation, packaging preparation, labeling, and international shipping logistics. These fees are 100% credited as a discount against your first full production order placed at or above MOQ.
Accepted payment methods for sample orders: credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), PayPal, T/T bank transfer. Once payment is received, your sample order enters the dispatch queue within 1 business day.
Samples Dispatched in 3–5 Business Days (Catalog) or 3–6 Weeks (Custom)
For white-label catalog products, samples are dispatched within 3–5 business days of payment confirmation. Your samples are selected from current production stock, packaged with batch documentation (batch number, production date, expiry date), and shipped via your selected courier with a tracking number provided by email.
For custom formulation samples requiring R&D development, dispatch takes 3–6 weeks from brief confirmation. This timeline includes formulator review, lab development, accelerated stability check, and sample preparation. Custom sample timelines are confirmed in writing before payment is collected.
Receive, Evaluate, and Decide — With Our Sample Evaluation Scorecard
Receive your samples in 7–10 business days to USA/Europe (see shipping table below for other destinations). Use the Flavor Sources Sample Evaluation Scorecard (provided in your shipment and below on this page) to systematically evaluate each product. Your account manager schedules a sample review call 10–14 days after dispatch to discuss your feedback and next steps.
If you need additional samples, modified formulations, or have questions after evaluation, your account manager addresses them in the review call. Most clients move to production order placement within 2–4 weeks of sample receipt.
Sample Brief Guide
What to Include in Your Private Label Skincare Sample Request Brief for Best Results
A complete brief generates 40% faster response and better-matched recommendations. Include as many of these elements as possible — especially the starred items marked as most critical.
⭐ Product Categories
Which product types? (facial serum, moisturizer, eye cream, cleanser, toner, SPF, body lotion, mask, scrub, hair care). Be specific — “moisturizer” is too broad; “barrier repair cream for combination skin” gives us actionable direction.
⭐ Target Market
Which country/countries will you sell in? This determines compliance requirements and can affect which formulations are eligible for your order. USA, EU, Australia, Canada, and Middle East have different regulatory considerations.
⭐ Key Claims or Hero Ingredients
What should the product do? (brightening, anti-aging, hydrating, acne-controlling, SPF). Any hero ingredient preferences? (niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, retinol, vitamin C, ceramides, peptides, AHA/BHA).
⭐ Retail Price Target
Your intended consumer retail price point. This helps us recommend formulations at the right cost-per-unit to support your target margin. Example: “Targeting $35–$50 retail on Shopify, working margin 60%+”.
Ingredients to Avoid
Any ingredients you want excluded? (fragrance-free, paraben-free, silicone-free, vegan, cruelty-free, Halal). Or ingredients needed for specific certifications (ECOCERT-compliant, Leaping Bunny compatible).
Sales Channel
Where will you sell? (DTC Shopify, Amazon, Sephora/Ulta, spa/salon, medical office). Different channels have different packaging and labeling requirements — knowing your channel upfront helps us match the right format.
Benchmark Products
Up to 3 competitor or reference products that represent your target quality level, texture preference, or positioning. A benchmark product eliminates the ambiguity of words like “lightweight” or “luxurious”.
Timeline
Your target launch date (even approximate). This helps us advise whether white-label (6–8 week production) or custom formulation (14–20 weeks) is realistic for your timeline, and plan dispatch priority.

Sample Evaluation Framework
How to Evaluate Your Private Label Skincare Samples: The Flavor Sources 8-Point Scorecard
Evaluate samples systematically — not intuitively. Subjective opinions without structure lead to inconsistent decisions. Use this 8-point scorecard to score each sample on a 1–5 scale. We recommend having at least 3 people evaluate each sample independently, then averaging scores.
Sample Evaluation Scorecard (Score 1–5 per criterion)
1. First Impression Texture
How does the product feel on first touch? Texture match to your target consumer expectations and category positioning?
2. Application & Absorption
How does the product apply and absorb into skin? Speed of absorption, finish, and skin feel after 30 minutes.
3. Scent Profile
Is the scent (or absence of scent) appropriate for your brand positioning and target consumer? Fragrance-free verification if required.
4. Packaging Compatibility
Does the formula dispense correctly from its intended packaging? Pump stroke consistency, fill level, and seal integrity.
5. Claimed Efficacy Impression
After 72-hour use, does the product deliver on its key claim? (Hydration, brightening, smoothing, etc.) Does it match the claim promise?
6. Stability Observation
Leave the sample open for 48 hours and inspect for color change, separation, or oxidation. Compare to sealed sample.
7. Competitive Benchmark
How does this sample compare to your 3 benchmark reference products? Better, comparable, or inferior on key performance criteria?
8. Consumer Retail Readiness
Could you sell this product at your target retail price without significant consumer pushback on quality? Overall confidence score.
After the Evaluation: What Happens Next
Your Flavor Sources account manager schedules a sample review call 10–14 days after dispatch. In that call, we discuss your scorecard results, address any concerns, explore modification options if needed, and outline the path to production. Most clients receive a production quote and formal proposal within 48 hours of the review call.
